A native of Glen Rock, NJ, Timothy J. Rossettini is currently the Director of Bands and Fine Arts Department Chair at Tallwood High School in Virginia Beach, VA. Mr. Rossettini received his high school education from Ridgewood High School, in Ridgewood, NJ. He received his Bachelor of Music with an emphasis in Music Education and Applied Percussion from James Madison University in 2003, graduating Cum Laude.
His percussion teachers include Gary Fink, Dr. Michael Overman, Rick Deloney, and the head of JMU’s percussion department, Mr. C. William Rice. While attending James Madison, he was the principal percussionist of the Concert and Symphonic Band and was an active member in the university’s Wind Symphony, Percussion Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, Opera Theater Orchestra, and Pep Band. Mr. Rossettini was also actively involved with the James Madison University Marching Royal Dukes, and performed with the band in Athens, Greece, as well as the 75th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and the inauguration parades for Virginia Governor Mark Warner and President George W. Bush.
Mr. Rossettini has been a member of the Virginia Wind Symphony for nine years and has been under the conducting batons of Mr. Dennis Zeisler, Dr. Harry Begian, Col. Arnold Gabriel, James Sochinski, Michael Hackbarth, James Curnow and various others. Most recently, he performed with the Virginia Wind Symphony at the American Bandmasters Association National Conference in Norfolk and The Midwest Clinic in Chicago. Mr. Rossettini has also had the privilege of conducting the Royal Netherlands Navy Band, His Majesty The King’s Guard from Norway, the Netherlands Army Band, the German Mountain Army Band, the Royal Band of the Belgian Navy, and the Band of the Mounted Arms from the Netherlands.
Mr. Rossettini is an active clinician, soloist, and composer, as well as an accomplished freelance and studio percussionist in the Tidewater area. He spent 2004-2007 as Director of Bands at Denbigh High School in Newport News, VA. Under his direction the band earned multiple awards including Superior ratings at State Band Festival and State Jazz Festival. At Tallwood High School, the band has earned the distinction of Virginia Honor Band six times under his direction. In 2010 and 2011, Tallwood High School’s music department earned the distinction of becoming a Blue Ribbon School. Tallwood’s band program regularly contributes members to Senior Regional Orchestra, All-District Band and All-State Band. The ensembles at Tallwood have consistently earned Superior Ratings since his arrival in 2007.
Mr. Rossettini is an honorary member of Phi Beta Mu, the International Bandmasters Fraternity. He is also a member of Kappa Delta Pi International Educators Honor Society, Golden Key International Honor Society, Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities, and Who’s Who Among American Teachers. He is also a member of the Virginia State Marching Assessment Committee, as well as the chair of the All-Virginia Percussion Audition Committee through the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association. In 2011, Mr. Rossettini was named Tallwood High School’s Teacher of the Year. He has been teaching privately for the last 19 years and is in pursuit of a master’s degree. He resides in Chesapeake with his wife, Amanda, and their two children, Hannah and Davis.
